Achievements of industry figures recognised in Australia’s Queen’s Birthday Honours
A range of industry achievements have been recognised in the Australia’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list announced today, with Ash Barty and the late Shane Warne among the most high profile award recipient.
Cricketer Warne, who died in March, aged 52, was recognised with a posthumously as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to cricket as a player and commentator as well as for his charitable initiatives and philanthropy.
Tennis star Barty was also recognised as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to tennis at the elite level and to youth development programs.
Barty, aged 26, announced her retirement from the sport in March, finishing her career with three major singles titles - the French Open (2019), Wimbledon (2021) and this year's Australian Open.
Across the country, 992 Australians have been recognised for their achievements.
Recipients appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) include tenpin bowling star Jason Belmonte and Robyn Monro Miller, recognised for significant service to the community through children's organisations.
Gold Coast tourism leader Paul Donovan was also named as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his “significant service to the tourism sector in Queensland”.
Children’s play advocate Robyn Monro Miller, a Play Australia board member and World President of the International Play Association (IPA) was named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her "outstanding leadership and advocacy of play".
Elena Gosse, Chief Executive of AIS Water was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) while Stadiums Queensland Chief Executive Todd Harris has been awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service in Queensland's sporting and major events, particularly through the COVID-19 pandemic.
