Awards recognise sport, recreation and play innovation at 2017 National Sports Convention
Glen Eira City Council’s transformation of the Caufield Reservoir into a playground and open space play area has been recognised as the overall winner at the 2017 Australian Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Awards.
Presented at the 2017 National Sports Convention in Melbourne yesterday, the Award recognises the Council’s redevelopment of the old Caufield Reservoir into a diverse and unique public open space for the whole community.
The new 17,000 metre² park features a play space, providing a stimulating and challenging environment for all ages and abilities along with a water play area reflecting the former use of the site. It also offers active sports areas as well as passive spots for relaxation, picnic shelters and barbeque facilities – presenting a range of opportunities for the whole community.
