Belgravia Leisure to introduce new industry initiative at NZRA Summit
October 12, 2018

Leading facility management operator Belgravia Leisure will be highlighting best practice in aquatic, fitness, recreation and sport management at an upcoming Summit coinciding with the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA) conference.

Being held on Tuesday 23rd October at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland, the Summit is open to NZRA Conference delegates and will highlight key areas in which leisure facility operators are growing and changing the future of leisure management.

With nearly 40 years’ experience running aquatics, recreation, tourism and wellness facilities in Australia, Belgravia Leisure launched in New Zealand four years ago and now manages 11 facilities, with a multi-million-dollar day spa on the Rotorua lakefront, on the way.

Speakers from management and partners will be providing insights on how New Zealand facility operators can drive and grow their community and commercial assets, increase community engagement and introduce best practices across the board.

One of the speakers, Belgravia Leisure Chief Executive Nick Cox, will be sharing key insights into the state of the leisure industry. Cox said the summit would showcase a number of products, services and solutions that could benefit the industry.

Cox explains “we want to introduce the local government sector to some of the systems, procedures and business intelligence that we've been working on over the past four years.

“We've invested heavily in creating some real smarts and sophistication around how business, particularly leisure centres, could operate.

“What we've got is ready-made industry-specific applications and products that we're willing to turn on and offer as a service, opening up those platforms to everyone, not just outsourced sites.

“For us, it’s about sharing the learnings, sharing the knowledge and sharing the platforms that we've been building to help enable more communities to connect to leisure.”

Other speakers at the Belgravia Leisure Recreation and Leisure Industry Leaders Summit will cover topics ranging from business intelligence and customer service KPIs to career development and Work Health & Safety protocols.

Alex Burrows, founder and Chief Executive of ActiveXchange, a Belgravia Leisure partner, will talk about big data, explaining why it’s a game changer and introducing powerful insights into business intelligence to career advancement.

The summit’s MC, Mark Blake, General Manager of Belgravia Leisure New Zealand, will team up with Jordane Wiggins, Huntly Aquatic Centre Manager, to talk about the lessons of providing customer service in the hospitality and retail industry.

They will cover how to leverage developments in technology to hear customers’ voices through measurable KPIs such as Net Promoter Score and Mystery Shopping experiences.

Mark Maybury, Belgravia Leisure’s Group Manager People & Culture, will discuss how micro-managing day-to-day jobs can interfere with our career aspirations.

The Summit will finish with an Industry Panel and Q&A session and will be followed by drinks and canapes, giving leisure and recreation industry attendees an opportunity to network.
