Bowls launches new radio program
August 25, 2012

Lawn bowls is entering an exciting era of media coverage with the launch of a new dedicated lawn bowls radio program, Without Bias.

The program has been developed to showcase the sport and its athletes and personalities, featuring the latest news and bowls results from every state and territory across Australia.

Without Bias, produced by Crocmedia, will be a one-hour program aired from 7am to 8am on Sunday mornings, with the first episode hitting the airwaves this Sunday 26th August 2012.

The newest addition to bowls' media coverage will be hosted by Crocmedia's Jack Heverin, who will be joined by regular co-host, Commonwealth Games medalist, Barrie Lester, with frequent guest appearances from Australian representatives, tournament winners, Club representatives and the sport's administrators.

The program will be aired on 23 stations in markets across Melbourne on SEN1116 and Sydney on 2SM, as well as on a variety of stations throughout regional New South Wales and Queensland.

Bowls Australia chief executive Neil Dalrymple explains "we are always looking for ways to provide the participants and followers of bowls in Australia with relevant and entertaining news and up-to-date content, and Without Bias provides a vehicle for us to achieve this.

"The program will enable the sport to reach new audiences, which has been identified as a core objective of the program, while also providing a dynamic approach to presenting the sport to Australia’s 925,000 bowls participants.

"While at inception the program will only reach the radio waves of the eastern seaboard, it will be available as a weekly podcast on iTunes every Monday and at (our website) and we will actively look at all the opportunities to expand the reach of the program over time, in particular to regional Victoria and South and Western Australia."

The first episode on Sunday will feature interviews with Mark Casey and Karen Murphy who won the men's and women's final of the Australian Indoor Championships at Tweed Heads yesterday as well as Club Helensvale's General Manager, Len Brunt.
