With sport technology continuing to develop “smarter” products and equipment, the latest offering comes from Aquame - a tech-integrated water bottle, offering UVC sanitation, drink reminders, and real-time tracking, all guided by an AI-enhanced app for optimal hydration.

Aquame is considered to fill a crucial void in sports technology by integrating effective hydration plans into athletes’ routines. Tailored to cater for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, it also focuses on post-exercise hydration, making sure there’s optimal recovery.

The new Melbourne-designed water bottle - which users say provides “the perfect way to increase your water intake” - doesn’t just remind you to drink water, but also provides personalised recommendations for how much to drink based on weight, activity levels and the weather.

Brisbane Roar Football Club have partnered with AQUAME to provide their Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Liberty A-League Women high-tech water bottles, delivering them the best day-to-day hydration as professional footballers.

Aquame are already being used by footballers including Socceroos legend Archie Thompson and Melbourne City FC forward Andrew Nabbout.

Thompson shared “Since I started using the Aquame smart water bottle, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my energy levels and overall wellbeing. The hydration tracking function allows me to monitor my water intake accurately... Not only does it remind me to drink water throughout the day, but it also helps me understand how my hydration levels impact my fitness performance and recovery. It’s a complete game-changer.”

Brisbane Roar Chief Executive Kaz Patafta notes “we are proud to partner with AQUAME and believe these high-tech water bottles will greatly contribute to player wellbeing on and off the pitch. As a club we strive to see players have the best products at their fingertips to perform their best. We look forward to growing this partnership with AQUAME.”

Founder of AQUAME Steve Aidun Xie enthused “we are thrilled to partner with Brisbane Roar, a significant milestone in revolutionising the role of data in modern sports. In today’s competitive sporting landscape, the understanding and optimisation of athlete hydration remain underexplored. Our collaboration is set to bridge this gap by leveraging cutting-edge technology to collect vital hydration data.

“This partnership is more than just an alliance; it’s a step towards filling a crucial void in sports tech by integrating effective hydration plans into athletes’ routines. The insights gained from working with a professional club like Brisbane Roar are invaluable. They will be instrumental in refining our new hydration analysis software, designed to empower sporting clubs globally. This tool will not only analyse but also illuminate how precise hydration planning can elevate athletes to their peak performance. We are excited to be at the forefront of this groundbreaking development, contributing to enhanced athletic achievements and wellbeing.”

The bottle, made from BPA-free materials, features a rechargeable battery in the LED lid displaying the water’s current temperature and how close the user is to reaching his or her daily water-intake goal.

The bottles, which come in a range of colours and hold up to 630mL are designed to connect to the Aquame app where the user sets their water-intake goals and then monitors their intake status.
