Cisco adds to Rio 2016  links with Tokyo Olympics partnership

Cisco Systems GK, a subsidiary of global Japanese technology firm Cisco Systems, has been announced as an official partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The announcement brings the total number of sponsors for the Games to 37, including the 22 official partners, with Cisco joining in the ‘network equipment’ category. Cisco provided similar services at London 2012, and will return for the Rio Games from 5th to 21st August.

Announcing the partnership, Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori stated “the company has a wealth of experience and a proven track record of supporting the communication of complex and diversified Games-related information.

“We are delighted that Cisco will be a partner, and we are confident that our partnership with Cisco will contribute to making the Tokyo 2020 Games the most connected in history.”

Cisco Systems GK President Miyuki Suzuki added “we are extremely honoured that we have the opportunity to support the success of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“We will evolve our accomplishments at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games and contribute to the success by providing cutting-edge network equipment.”

Cisco Systems is also a partner of the 2016 Rio Olympics, aiming to make this year's Games "the most connected ever."
