FFA attains record ‘MyFootballClub’ registration numbers

With the grassroots football season now in full swing, Football Federation Australia (FFA) has announced that a record number of over 450,000 registrations have been collected as part of the National Online Registration Portal MyFootballClub.
This record number includes 420,000 players with coaches and volunteers making up the remainder. Another key statistic is that 215,000 were self-registrations where the participant registered from the convenience of home or office.
There are currently 550,000 online members of the 'Football Family' fan base in Australia with the FFA's goal to have over 1 million online members by 2015.
In addition to the record registrations of MyFootballClub and the Football Family, FFA's online presence has grown exponentially since the start of FFA's digital partnership with Optus.
Key statistics include:
• Website traffic up 20% from last year
• Over 200,000 downloads of the official Hyundai A-League and Qantas Socceroos mobile apps;
• Our total social media audience has grown by almost 20% since October 2011;
• Hyundai A-League Twitter is now 8,232 followers after starting this season at zero;
• Hyundai A-League Facebook has grown 80% since the start of this season;
• Hyundai A-League Social Media (Facebook + Twitter) in total has grown by 130%;
• Women's Football Social Media (Facebook + Twitter) has grown by 25%;
• Qantas Socceroos Social Media (Facebook + Twitter) has grown by 9%.
FFA's Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications, Kyle Patterson, believes that the success of the digital strategy is due to the quality of the content that is being provided to football fans and the integrated approach to digital channels.
Patterson explains "we are able to tell the fans the inside story of Australian football in a way and on a platform that suits them.
"FFA's digital properties make up the premier digital network for football in Australia.
"Our website network website, headlined by www.footballaustralia.com.au, offers unrivalled breadth and depth of coverage with dedicated websites for the Hyundai A-League and every Hyundai A-League Club, the Westfield W-League, National Youth League, and all the National teams including the Qantas Socceroos and Westfield Matildas.
"The rich content offering of news, statistics, video, expert columnists and behind-the-scenes insights on the websites is also offered on mobile apps for the Hyundai A-League and Qantas Socceroos. We are delighted to have a committed partner in Optus who have built powerful communications tools for our in-house digital team."
