FINA approved Malmsten Lane Ropes gain increased acceptance in Australia

Available in Australia since 2012, Malmsten lane ropes are being installed at a growing number of aquatic facilities, including Aquanation Leisure and Fitness Centre; the Tobruk Memorial Pool in Cairns; Darwin's Parap Pool; Gympie Aquatic and Recreation Centre and the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre.
Available through distributor Ceramic Solutions, the Swedish-made lane ropes also featured at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in July last year.
At major events, lane ropes ensure fair competition with minimal water turbulence impacting other swimmers.
Ceramic Solutions Managing Director Oliver Huss explains “a common misconception is that people think the racing lane rope’s sole function is to divide the different water activities in the pool.
“But Malmsten patented pool lane ropes are designed for optimum wave reduction.”
Malmsten’s patented ‘competitor’ racing lane ropes absorb wave energy and allow it to be dispersed within the lane, so it doesn't impact surrounding swimmers. This is achieved by each disc rotating independently of the other, breaking down the wave energy inside the line.
As an official supplier to world swimming governing body FINA, Ceramic Solutions has seen that a growing number of facilities install Malmsten lane ropes as a result of “understanding the value of FINA’s recognition and an acceptance of the quality of the product.”
Since 2014, Malmsten have optimised their lane rope materials and stress-tested their designs to include over 1500 hours of extreme chlorine levels, wind and sun-rays.
In addition to Agrob Buchtal tiles and Malmsten lane ropes, Ceramic Solutions distribute a wide range of aquatic products making the Victorian-based company a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the fit out of commercial aquatic centres.
This includes PVC pool grating from Lawson Aquatics; lifts, rails, diving boards, starting blocks, ladders and lifeguard chairs from Spectrum Aquatics; Jasba mosaic tiles; Stark bulkheads and Ströher outdoor ceramics.
