Former Parramatta Stadium giant screen re-erected at McDonald Jones Stadium

Former Parramatta Stadium giant screen re-erected at McDonald Jones Stadium
November 6, 2017

The giant screen revealed at the northern end of McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle at the weekend is expected to add to the experience of those attending events at the venue.

Recycled from the now demolished Parramatta Stadium, the screen, measuring 98.3 metre², is three times larger than the venue’s former screen.

Commenting on the recycling of the high definition technology, NSW Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Scot MacDonald “(this) is a great example of ensuring that the stadia across the state work as a network – sharing assets and building the experience for those wherever they are in the state.

Venues NSW Chief Executive Paul Doorn added “Venues NSW is continuing to invest in the Newcastle’s sports fans experience and to continue to ensure McDonald Jones Stadium meets the ever expanding requirements to attract and host international sporting events.”

Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Lawrie McKinna sees the new screed as major coup for the fans of both the Jets and the NRL’s Newcastle Knights.

McKinna concluded “the quality of this new screen will improve the viewing experience from all corners of the stadium, meaning fans won’t miss a minute of play on the pitch.”
