Foxtix delivers for the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix
April 3, 2012
Figures announced by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) revealed strong crowd figures for the 2012 Formula 1ï¾ Qantas Australian Grand Prix, with the event's official ticketing provider, Foxtix, playing a significant role.
With an estimated 313,700 fans flocking to the event in numbers not seen in seven years, Foxtix Chief Execuitve Adam McArthur credits the success of the event in part to the AGPC's innovative range of ticket purchase options.
McArthur explains "the AGPC did a great job of putting together a range of ticketing options to suit every type of fan. The offers included multi and single day packages and ticket upgrades for some fantastic new products offered in 2012. This was a key factor behind them attracting over 300,000 people to this year's event."
The temporary nature of the Albert Park circuit requires the installation and maintenance of multiple temporary structures and facilities including grandstands, box offices, and gate entrance points to accommodate the thousands of fans who attend the event.
McArthur adds "to ensure the smooth running of this year's event at Albert Park, we worked with the AGPC to implement systems and structures such as multiple temporary box offices and entry gates ensuring easy and efficient access.
"The success of the event is a testament to the hard work and passion our dedicated team and the AGPC have put in to deliver a truly world class event.
"Working closely with the AGPC marketing team, we were also able to plan comprehensive promotion of the race through our own ticketing databases and media support, as well as support through a range of partners, such as the Herald Sun, SportingPulse, AskMen and PayPal."
AGPC General Manager - Sales and Commercial praised the delivery of the event, stating "Foxtix bring to the table a new energy and approach to the delivery of large scale events that is first class. While the company was only introduced to the market a year ago, we put our faith in their experienced staff.
"The extensive media support they provide us through their connection to News Limited also played an important part in helping us drive ticket sales to record numbers this year. Their experience, coupled with an advanced ticketing platform and extensive media support allowed us to have the confidence and capacity to deliver our event with ease and efficiency while attracting record crowds."
The successful delivery of the 2012 Formula 1ï¾ Qantas Australian Grand Prix follows the successful implementation of the 2012 Womad Festival. Foxtix's momentum in the market is continued through its ticketing services provided to Australia's largest annual event - the 2012 Sydney Royal Easter Show which is currently on sale.
Foxtix has been working with the AGPC through the Formula 1ï¾ Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix since its launch to market in late 2010.
Foxtix is profiled in the March/April 2012 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
