Hawthorn Premiership boosts merchandise sales

Hawthorn Premiership boosts merchandise sales
October 1, 2014

The aftermath of Hawthorn’s AFL Grand Final at the MCG last Saturday (27th September) generated a massive boost in sales of the Club’s merchandise.

In the two days following the Hawks claiming back-to-back flags for the second time in their history, the Club’s online store, HawksNest, achieved an upsurge in merchandise related sales.

In the 36 hours following the final siren there were 37,000 unique sessions with a peak of almost 4,500 sessions at 7pm on Saturday. 65% of these visitors were on a mobile device.

The most popular items have included the Premiers Stubby Holder, Premiers Polo’s and Bumper Stickers.

IMG Sports Technology Group’s (IMG STG) ecommerce team worked closely with Hawthorn to ensure immediacy to market post Grand Final, ensuring fans were aware of the unique value proposition that is attached to winning a premiership.

IMG STG’s ecommerce platform, ShopDesq, was able to deal with high traffic demand over the weekend and facilitate ease of use for fans wanting to celebrate the win in style.
