Kiwi sports clubs and schools take registrations online

February 18, 2010
Sporting clubs and schools in New Zealand can now accept online registrations directly through their website thanks to a new free service just announced by Sportsground.co.nz.
The million plus New Zealanders who participate in sport and recreation activities generally register through their school or club by completing a paper form.
However as Mike Purchas, Chief Executive of Sportsground.co.nz, explains "up until now, most people have battled with paper forms. Schools and clubs would have needed a web designer if they wanted people to be able register for teams, trips or events directly through their website.
"We've changed all that (and) removed the headache by making it really easy to display registration forms on (a) website. This avoids having to copy details from paper forms and makes it easy for clubs and organisations to manage their member database."
Kevin Murphy, Treasurer of Marist Football Club in Napier, agrees, stating "this solution will save many hours of work and it lets us decide how a form looks on our website and which information people must complete."
Sportsground is the largest single supplier of websites to Kiwi sports. It also provides a sister service for schools called Schoolground.co.nz.
Like the websites, the online forms feature is provided free of charge.
Purchas explains that Sportsground's income comes from encouraging "sports clubs and schools to conduct fundraising campaigns around the patent interactive advertising banner on the right of the sites, we retain one third of funds raised to contribute towards the cost of the service."
