Management change at SportsTurf Consultants

SportsTurf Consultants have announced the appointment of Sam Myott as General Manager.
Myott, who joined SportsTurf as an agronomist in 2016, steps into the position after SportsTurf co-founder and director Ron MacCartney moved into a non-executive consultancy role within the business.
Myott has over 30 years’ experience in turfgrass business management throughout Australia and Asia, having managed many world-class golf courses, bowling greens and other sporting facilities.
Melbourne-based SportsTurf, which is part of the STRI Group, is the leading independent agronomy service to the Australian sports turf industry. It also provides design and construction supervision services, as well as laboratory diagnostics from its facility in Mt Waverley.
Announcing the appointment, STRI Group Director Lee Penrose stated “STRI Group continues to heavily invest in our Asia-Pacific businesses.
“Sam’s appointment is another big step in our ongoing commitment to deliver high-quality technical services to the turf industry throughout the region.”
Looking forward to his new role, Myott added “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity of leading SportsTurf Consultants into a bright future.
“As a business we have some big plans for growth across Victoria and throughout Australia, working alongside STRI’s research facility in Brisbane. I’m looking forward to the challenges that 2018 will bring.”
SportsTurf Consultants became part of the STRI Group, the world’s leading consultancy for design, research and management of sports surfaces, in June 2015 and has grown its broad range of services in the recreational turf and horticultural industries.
Over the past five years, STRI has bolstered its position as a market leader in the sports surface industry. It recently joined forces with Auburn University in the USA and started work on several large-scale football projects through its joint venture in China. This is in addition to recent significant investments made at its facilities in the United Kingdom and Qatar.
