MCG reveals Australia’s largest vision boards

Just in time for the Boxing Day Ashes Test, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has unveiled the largest vision boards/video screens at an Australian sports stadium.
The two new, state-of-the-art Daktronics vision boards are more than three times the size of the venue's previous screens, measuring 25.24 metres wide and 13.17 metres high equating to over 330 metres of screen space.
Located on Level 4 in the Ponsford and Olympic stands, the new LED screens will provide live high-definition vision during MCG events with the aim of taking the fan experience at the MCG to a whole new level .
Commenting on the installation, Melbourne Cricket Club Chief Executive Stephen Gough stated "part of the reason of being a large stadium is you've got to have the best and the largest and I think that's what we've got.
"What you're seeing is a perfect example of reinvesting in the best, we now have the largest screens in Australia, we have a clarity that is unparalleled."
Gough continued "we are thrilled to have the scoreboards installed in time for the upcoming Boxing Day Test.
"Although the original schedule aimed for one board to be installed this year and the other before next year's Test, this was brought forward to maximise the viewing experience of our members and cricket patrons at the Ashes Test.
"A key feature of the new boards is their ability to show the full cricket scorecard for the first time, enabling spectators to see batting and bowling cards on the one screen.
"We thank Daktronics for providing the scoreboards, which will significantly enrich the experience of watching sport at the MCG."
Daktronics Australia Senior Project Manager Luke Tingle added "we're honoured to have worked with the MCC on this project to improve the fan experience at one of the world's greatest stadiums."
Work on the $5 million project began after the 2013 AFL Grand Final.
AFL fans will enjoy the new displays for the first time when Carlton plays Richmond at the MCG on Thursday 27th March.
Daktronics Australia has built vision boards at Metricon Stadium, Skoda Stadium, Simmonds Stadium, SCG and is contracted for works at the revamped Adelaide Oval.
