Myrtha to build two pools for 2013 FINA World Championships
Italian-based swimming pool manufacturer Myrtha Pools will be responsible for building and implementing two removable pools at the Palau Sant Jordi sport arena, Barcelona for the 15th FINA World Championships 2013.
Myrtha Pools will build two pools: one for the competition (measuring 50 x 25 metres and with a depth of 3 metres), which will be installed in the Palau Sant Jordi arena, and a second one for training (50 x 20 metre and 2 metre deep), which will be set up in the parking area of Barcelona's famous sports facility.
Members of the 15th FINA World Championships event organising committee signed the agreement for the pools during the recent FINA World Aquatics Convention in Moscow, Russia, following Myrtha representatives having previously visited the Barcelona 2013 organising committee to negociate the deal.
Myrtha Pools has had a longterm involvement with swimming's international governing body FINA (Federation Internationale de Natation), and the development of aquatic sport around the world, and was an Official Partner of the 2010 World Aquatics Convention.
With over 50 years of experience in the business, Myrtha Pools deliver made-to-measure competition pools for the FINA World Championship and events hosting swimming, water polo, synchro-swimming and diving.
Myrtha has built pools for some of world swimming's major events, including the 14th FINA World Championships held in Shanghai, China and has has built pools in over 70 countries.
The construction of the training pool for the 15th FINA World Championships Barcelona 2013 will commence at the beginning of June, while the construction for the competition pool will start on 17th June, approximately one month prior to the Opening Ceremony.
