Netball launches new app ‘Netball Live’ and renews Telstra partnership
March 13, 2015

In conjunction with Telstra and the Australian Sports Commission, Netball Australia has launched the sport’s first dedicated mobile app with live streaming – Netball Live.

Netball Live will be the flagship in the new partnership between Telstra and the sport of netball in Australia. The app launch kicks off a renewed four-year partnership with Netball Australia as the organisation’s Official Telecommunications and Digital Partner; and a partnership with Netball World Cup Sydney 2015.

Netball Live, available from the App Store and Google Play, provides live scores, statistics, news and highlights for free and subscribers [$2.99 weekly (iOS) $12.99 monthly (Android), $29.99 annually (iOS and Android)] the opportunity to watch every game of the 2015 ANZ Championship, Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 and Australian Diamonds International Test matches.

Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer said Netball Live builds the sport’s capacity to broadcast live national and international netball, complementing the sport’s new free-to-air and subscription television partnerships.

Palmer “Telstra has been an innovative partner and we’re thrilled to renew our partnership. Netball Live provides Netball Australia with a chance to leverage the high interest in the sport leading into and following the Netball World Cup Sydney 2015.”

Further updates and enhancements are planned for the app throughout the year, including a tablet compatible app and dedicated Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 and Australian Diamonds sections.

Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 Chief Executive Marne Fechner said the partnership with Telstra will help deliver the first app of its kind in the history of the event.

Fecnher stated “our ambition is to stage the best Netball World Cup ever, so our partnership with Telstra will provide a unique world cup experience with real-time tournament news and information delivered directly to fans around the world with Netball Live.”

Telstra Director Digital Media and Content Adam Good said Telstra had been partners with Netball Australia since 2010 and looked forward to continuing and building on the relationship, which now also includes partnering with Netball World Cup Sydney 2015.

Good concluded “live streaming apps are exceptionally popular with sports fans and we’ve been able to use our proven expertise in this area to bring this new technology to netball, helping fans get closer to the game they love.”

Netball Live is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.
