ProGrass install artificial turf football field in the Philippines

Cairns-based synthetic grass solutions specialists ProGrass have recently completed the installation of a 6,500 metre2 artificial turf football field at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in Alabang, Manila in the Philippines.
Using ProGrass' Durotuft two tone synthetic yarn, the field will be the home for the School's sporting teams, as well as the primary training ground for the Green Archers United Globe team in the Philippines United Football League.
Working with local supplier Advantage Sports + Leisure, the field was installed in a six week period, and joins a growing number of artificial turf fields in metropolitan Manila including Turf BGC, the Manila International School, King's School and the McKinley Hill Football Field.
Advantage General Manager Jeremy Rollin explains that the field will accrue savings of about Philipinne Pesos 200,000 (US$5,000) a month for the school, since there is no need to water, fertilise or mow the field.
Rollin adds "plus they can rent it out more often since it's an artificial surface."
The Durotuft surface blends polymers, pigments, and UV stabilisers with both a thick and thin blade supplied as a single yarn from ProGrass. The combination of the field and olive green colour gives a true and natural looking appearance.
The surface is soft to touch and makes friction burns, as experienced by users of earlier generations of artificial turf, a thing of the past.
The surface's versatility has also been demonstrated with the incorporation of the Globe logo from the Green Archers' sponsor into the surface in front of the main grandstand.
This type of advertising opportunity was a pivotal aspect in being able to financially support a project of this magnitude.
