Following its success as a sports award program in the Middle East, the inaugural Sports Industry Awards (SPIA) Asia Awards will take place in the Philippines this October.

The Awards, established in 2012 by Sport360, the world’s only English language daily sports newspaper, will now celebrate the stellar achievements of the sports industry across Asia.

The much anticipated event – to be held on Friday 2nd October at the New World Makati Hotel in Manila, Philippines – are being organised by MMC Sportz and Sport360 under the sanction of the Philippines Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.

Preceded by an industry conference, the black tie-gala event will recognise achievements in 10 individual categories – both professional and community-focused – with an award shortlist showing 168 entries registered from 10 South East Asian countries including the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Brunei and Hong Kong.

Commenting on the awards, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Executive Director Guillermo Iroy Junior stated "SPIA will help elevate the awareness in the sport industry and recognize their contributions to the development of sport.

“The PSC is very thankful for bringing SPIA to the Philippines (and) I would like to extend our thanks and congratulations to the organizers."
