STRI acquires SportsTurf Consultants

Leading sports turf consultancy STRI (the Sports Turf Research Institute) has acquired Melbourne-based Australian SportsTurf Consultants.

The STRI Group.describe the move as an aim to strengthen its position as the world’s largest sports surface consultancy and continuing its drive to become the consultancy group of choice in Australia and Asia-Pacific.

Commenting on the acquisition, STRI Australasia Managing Director Mark Godfrey stated “today we have reaffirmed our long-term commitment to the Australian sports industry and significantly increased our portfolio of services.

“Increasingly, clients are seeking new and cost-effective ways to deliver the highest quality sports surfaces for the end user and maximize their return on investment.

“Combining the local expertise and exceptional service levels of SportsTurf with the global reach of STRI will provide new and existing clients with unrivalled levels of support and innovation.”

Australian SportsTurf Consultants was established in 1992 to offer a scientifically grounded independent agronomy service to the sports turf industry. Over the years, it has evolved to become the local industry leader offering a broad range of services, including consultancy, survey, design, surface assessments, audits, benchmarking and laboratory tests, with six consultants and a combined experience of over 130 years.

SportsTurf will continue to operate under its own name, out of its offices in the Melbourne suburb of Notting Hill.
