Ticketmaster Australasia has unveiled new technology that aims to enhance the ticketbuying experience for live sport and entertainment fans.

Initially launched across AFL events at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium, the ‘View From Section’ feature adds 3D visualisation and virtual design to event pages, allowing fans to see the view from their seat before they book.

Developed in exclusive partnership with IOMEDIA, the new technology aims to enhance the way fans book tickets for live entertainment and sport events by allowing more insight during the purchasing process, giving fans a full 360 degree view of the venue.

Introducing the technology, Ticketmaster Australasia, Managing Director, Maria O’Connor stated “’View From Section’ is a major step for the ticketing industry and will undoubtedly enhance the way Australian entertainment fans buy tickets.

“We are ahead of many key markets in implementing this technology and follow in the footsteps of a successful integration by our American counterparts.”

Launched in partnership with the AFL and Etihad Stadium, O’Connor added that “the ‘View From Section’ capabilities are so good even other ticketing brands in Australia will be integrating our technology on their platforms.

“It is testament to this superior platform that our technology will then be integrated by other ticketing brands throughout Australia.”

Welcoming the new feature AFL spokesperson Patrick Keane commented “watching your team play live is the best way to experience AFL footy.

“Ticketmaster’s latest feature enables fans to get a taste of what they will see once they are in their seat on match day. Ticketmaster and Etihad Stadium continue to invest in initiatives to better cater for fans and members and to improve the overall match day experience.”

Etihad Stadium Chief Executive Michael Green added “we're excited by the launch of this tech leading innovation by Ticketmaster as it fits perfectly into our strategy to deliver firsts to our patrons, and it will deliver an improved customer experience in their ticketing purchase process."

‘View From Section’ functionality is available to Ticketmaster customers booking on both desktop and mobile.
