Tiger Turf transforms Canberra’s premier football venue

ACT Minister of Sport, Andrew Barr, has opened the redeveloped Hawker Football Centre.
Redeveloped by the ACT Government in conjunction with Capital Football, this drought proofing initiative sees the third generation synthetic surface installed for the first time in a sporting venue in the ACT.
Expected to benefit local players for years to come, the redevelopment has seen the venueâs former grass playing field replaced with Tiger Turf Soccer Real, an international standard synthetic surface.
Speaking of the redevelopment, Minister Barr said it was exciting start to the process of drought proofing Canberra, stating "we recognise (the) challenges that we face in the longer term to drought proof our facilities and this is a very practical example of how we can achieve a positive outcome, a fantastic world class facility that isn't drawing on our water supply."
The surface will be field tested to FIFA 2 Star which means it is designed to basically mirror the playing characteristics of professional football and FIFA final found competitions and top UEFA competitions can be played at the venue.
Tiger Turf Soccer Real produces a pitch that performs like a freshly watered, high quality national turf, without the need for water.
Tiger Turf believe that playerâs skills and enjoyment are enhanced as the surface is more consistent and safe.
