Animoca Brands takes naming rights to Australian MotoGP
June 9, 2022

Leading blockchain and metaverse gaming business Animoca Brands has been revealed as the naming rights sponsor for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Animoca Brands first became a partner of MotoGP in 2019, when it gained the rights to develop the first non-fungible tokens (NFTs) based on the series.

As part of the latest deal, the company will develop a blockchain game called MotoGP Ignition and deliver branded experiences based on limited edition NFTs.

The game is based on a digital collectibles platform that allows users buy and sell cards of varying rarity. It includes a card-based fantasy sports and racing manager games.

The latter sees NFT collectables featuring the bikes, riders and champions of MotoGP that gamers use to assemble racing teams and compete against other players.

As well as naming rights for the Australian MotoGP, Animoca will also receive the same asset with the Grand Prix of Aragon in Spain.

It is Animoca Brands second major deal Australian sponsorship following a partnership it struck with the AFL in April that will see the development of an NFT marketplace called AFL Mint.
