HG Turf Group appoints NSW State Manager

HG Turf Group has announced the appointment of Nathan Humphreys as State Manager for NSW, responsible for growing HG Turf Group’s business in the state.

Having operated in NSW since 2000, as the turf supplier to the Olympic Stadium/Stadium Australia, HG Turf Group currently supplies its Hybrid Grass systems to stadiums, sports fields and parks throughout the state.

Announcing the appointment, HG Turf Group Managing Director, Hamish Sutherland stated “we are all excited to have Nathan back in the team. With over 20 years of experience, Nathan is an expert when it comes to hybrid grass and sports field constructions.

“He will play a pivotal role in making Hybrid Grass understood and available in the NSW market.”

Humphreys began his turf management career in 1998 in Canberra with Stadium Turf Management and, in the 20+ years since he has worked around the globe in the elite sports field management industry, gaining extensive experience in design, construction, renovation and maintenance of turf facilities.

During 2003-2005, Humphreys worked with the Motz Group, installing natural turf and synthetic turf sports fields across the USA, before moving to the UK in 2005 where he spent five years overseeing the playing surface management of multiple Premiership Rugby and Football League venues in London.

In 2010 Nathan returned to Australia and re-joined Stadium Turf Management, as curator of Canberra Stadium before, in 2012 joining HG Turf Group, overseeing the Group’s interstate and international turf operations, including the 2015 AFC Asia Cup and the 2018 Commonwealth Games.   

Commenting on his new role, Humphreys advised “I am excited to return to the HG team and becoming an instrumental part in the groups future success. I look forward to offering HG Turf Group’s hybrid grass solutions to the market and cementing our position as No1 hybrid solutions provider in the region.

“Whether it be for the fast-approaching FIFA Women’s World Cup, the future 2032 Olympic Games, or any number of community sports fields and open parklands that require a solution.”
