ASTN and City of Perth collaborate in spotlighting local sports tech sector
The Australian Sports Technologies Network (ASTN) has today announced its collaboration with the City of Perth in spotlighting local sports tech leaders and highlight global trends in the industry during West Tech Fest 2024.
With the support of a City of Perth Economic Development Sponsorship, ASTN will host several industry events on 3rd December in Perth focused on advancing the sports tech ecosystem.
Activities will include an industry roundtable to explore growth strategies for Perth's sports tech sector, an investment pitching masterclass connecting startups with investors, and a networking event showcasing local sports tech companies while offering insights into global trends.
ASTN is the leading industry body sports technology and innovation in Australia and recently it estimated that the national industry generates $4.7 billion per annum, employs close to 15,000 people and consists of nearly 800 companies and startups.

“Australia is a globally-recognised leader in sports tech development, and Perth’s sports industry along with its 45-plus sports tech startups, plays a critical role in promoting this expertise.
“We have a fantastic agenda planned for the networking event including representatives from Australia’s leading sports tech investment firms participating in a panel, including XV Capital, AO Ventures and Wildcard Ventures. We will also have a fast-moving showcase from eight of Perth’s leading and emerging sports tech founders.
ASTN has been working with Western Australia’s sports tech industry over the past 18 months, with the support of the WA Government’s New Industries Fund. ASTN is supporting up to 14 WA-based sports tech startups and companies over the next 12 months in various programs to help fast-track their growth.
ASTN’s networking event will also be supported by the WA Government’s New Industries Fund.
ASTN and the City of Perth welcome all those interested in sport, entrepreneurship, investment and sports tech to attend the networking event to understand what is happening both locally and globally in the fast-growing sports tech industry.
The networking event is a satellite event as part of West Tech Fest 2024.
Panel 1: Future Trends in Sports tech and Venture Capital
Three leaders in Australia’s sports tech industry will share their insights on trends that they are seeing in the burgeoning global sports tech industry. They will highlight what they see as the key growth segments of the industry as well as provide insights into the fast-moving sports tech venture capital landscape.

To round out the event, across two panel sessions, eight of WA’s leading sports tech founders will share their journeys and showcase why their technologies are making them category winners in a burgeoning global sports tech sector.
