New services for Australian Open fans

January 13, 2013
The Australian Open tennis tournament is looking to further enhance the fan experience with new services and experiences.
The tournament, being held at Melbourne and Olympic Park from 14th to 27th January 2013, will offer a 'Phone Valet' service that will prevent fans from missing any smart phone social media opportunity from going un-posted due to low battery life.
A new mobile phone charge and clean service will be available through Australian Open merchandise outlets that will enable fans to get their phones 'wrapped' in an exclusive Australian Open design.
The outlets will offer:
A phone cleaning and wrapping service for $10;
A battery recharge service for $5;
For those who spend $100 at any official Australian Open outlet onsite will receive the phone clean and wrap for free.
As an exclusive offering to Optus customers all services will be offered half price and with an Optus express line, there's no need to wait in a queue.
Two major event sponsors have also offered fans radio-frequency lanyards, which can be swiped for a courtesy train ride from the venue to Southbank or Southern Cross Station. The initiative aims to ease the burden on taxis servicing the event.
Simply by tapping the Jacob's Creek and Kia radio towers at Grand Slam Oval and at the open dining area, visitors will be eligible for the free trip.
Patrons who register with the new 'Open Interactive' technology will also be able to link to their Facebook accounts.
Also, for fans who have enjoyed a match on the Rod Laver Arena, for just $10 they can preserve the memory by having the name, date and match attended on any t-shirt purchased from an official Australian Open outlet.
The match details can be added at the exclusive Australian Open Personalised Pressing Station.
The personalisation service is also now available online.
