Sports technology entrepreneur Nick Maywald honoured at 2019 Australia and New Zealand Sports Technology Awards

Nick Maywald, Chair of Atrium Sports and founder of SportingPulse, has been recognised at the 2019 Australia and New Zealand Sports Technology Awards with the Lifetime Leadership Award for his outstanding contribution to global sport over the last 20 years.
Presented last night at Melbourne’s AAMI Park, the Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in data, digital and technology across the sport, media, entertainment, health and technology landscapes.
Maywald’s career in sports technology started in Melbourne in 1999 where he brought together a team to create SportingPulse.
The business grew to become the third largest online sports destination in Australia behind Telstra and News Limited, attracting over five million monthly unique browsers while also providing technical solutions and expertise to global sport brands including FIBA, FIFA and the NBA.
Having moved on from Sporting Pulse, today he is the Chair of new sports technology venture Atrium Sports.
Presented in nine categories, the ANZSTA’s were inaugurated in 2018 to celebrate the excellence of firms and organisations in the various fields of sports tech, from data to devices, or engaging fans via social media or at the ground.
Chris Hume, Director of Champion Data - Australia's largest and leading provider of live performance based statistical information - and founder of Sportal Australia was also presented with an ASTN Lifetime Achievement Award.
